Sight word worksheet generator

One page for each word: read, trace, write, find, build

Make a practice page for any sight word. Each page has the same small jobs: read the word, trace it, write it, find it among other words, and build it from cut-out letters. Pick a ready list or type your own words.

Your worksheet:

How to make your worksheet

  1. Pick a word list, or choose “My own words” and type this week’s words.
  2. Choose one full page for each word, or several words on one page to trace and write.
  3. Choose how many words to print. Start with five: a few words learned well beats a long list.
  4. Print. To keep a copy, choose “Save as PDF” as the printer.

Why the same jobs on every page

When the page looks the same each time, a child knows what to do and can work alone. The only new thing is the word.

Words that can be sounded out

Many sight words follow the rules: “can”, “in”, “up” and “it” can be sounded out like any other word. Sound those out. Keep the look-and-remember practice for words with a tricky part, such as “said” and “was”.
