The goal: on day 10 your child reads 16 of the most common words, on their own and inside sentences never seen before.
For the child who knows a word today and has lost it tomorrow. About five minutes a day from you.
That is the goal, not a promise. Some children hold all sixteen by day 10, and some need the ten days twice. Losing a word overnight is common at five and six.

Known on the card last night. A blank look this morning.
Two letters play fair. Only the middle part is known by heart.
You have done the flashcards. The word is right on Monday and gone on Tuesday. That does not mean your child is not trying. A card asks a child to remember a whole word as a picture. This plan gives the memory something to hold: the sounds, and one small part to know by heart.
See it and hear itThis is the day 2 track your child works with. It waits, then gives the answer. Nothing listens back.
“My child cannot remember sight words” can mean four different things, and each needs a different push. Day 1 is a three-minute check that points to the most likely one.
Reads the word alone, then does not know it inside a sentence.

Some words stay and some slip away. The earlier words must come back every day.

The ten daysWords that share a heart part are taught on the same day, so there is one thing to know by heart, not four. And no word is taught once and left: the earlier words come back every day, because forgetting is the trouble.
Everything in your packIt is more than worksheets. It is the pages, someone showing you each day, and a voice that works with your child while you step away.

Ten days of pages with the hand-drawn Sound It Out friends. Color and ink-saving black and white, US Letter and A4.

About a minute each. You see what to do before you do it, with real recorded letter sounds. With captions.
On days 2, 4, 7 and 9. Press play and step away. The voice says what to do, waits, then reads each sentence so your child can check it alone.

Day 1 shows where the trouble is. Day 10 uses sentences and words your child has never seen, so memory of a page cannot pass.
Sixteen of the words a new reader meets most. Each one read right away earns a colored box. Three boxes, and your child owns the word.
After day 10 you type in your numbers. It shows where your child started, where they are now, and the next step.

Three steps to begin, and a code to scan for the welcome video. You are never left wondering what to do first.

One star to color for each day.

With your child’s name, and signed by you.
Scan the code in the book. No app to install, no password to remember.

Three steps in the yellow box. Do job 1 together.
Your child reads, marks and matches, with the sound track on four days.
Show and starThree words read to you. One star colored.
“With your grown-up, 2 minutes” is printed on every page. Days 1, 5 and 10 are checks, and those need you for the whole page. A young child may need you nearby on other days too. If a day is easy, do the next one. If a day is hard, do it again tomorrow.

Not sure yet? Do the free 3-minute check. It tells you whether this plan fits your child before you spend anything.
It is not a promise. Some children hold all sixteen words by day 10. Some need the ten days twice. It is not a test for dyslexia, and forgetting sight words on its own does not mean a child has it. If your child is seven or older and a second round changes nothing, tell the teacher as well. It is not an app, and your child does not need a screen. It covers sixteen words, not a school’s whole list, though the same four moves fit any word. It is new, and it has not yet been tested with a group of children. You need a printer.
Yes. The pages are made to be printed once, on plain paper. The black-and-white copy uses very little ink.
At five and six, yes. A word often has to be met on many different days before it stays. That is why this plan brings the earlier words back every day. If your child is seven or older and the words still do not stay after a second round, do the plan and tell the teacher what you see.
Sixteen of the words a new reader meets most: is, his, has, the, a, to, you, he, she, we, me, go, no, I, was, said. Every other word on the pages can be sounded out.
It covers sixteen words, not the whole list. What your child keeps is the way of working: say the word, tap its sounds, dot the letters that play fair, and draw a heart under the part that does not. You can use the same four moves on any word from the school list.
Most children who need this are five to seven. Your child should already be able to sound out short words like cat and hop. Not sure? Do the free check. If sounding out is the real trouble, it will tell you.
About two minutes at the start of each day’s page, and a minute at the end when your child reads three words to you. Day 1 and day 10 are checks of about three minutes each.
Stop, and do the same page again tomorrow. One day’s words should be sure before the next ones start. The halfway check on day 5 tells you whether to go on or go back.
No. Nothing in this pack watches, listens to or records your child. You are the one who listens.
The “start here” page of the book has a code to scan with your phone, and a short link. They open in your browser. There is nothing to install.
Write to hello@sounditoutreading.com within 30 days of buying and we will refund you. You do not need to give a reason, and you keep the pages.
