The goal: on day 10 your child spots two letters that make one sound, and reads words like ship, chin, this and ring never seen before.
For the child who reads short words like cat and hop, but says the two letters of ship apart, or stops at chin and ring. About five minutes a day from you.
That is the goal, not a promise. Some children have digraphs in a week, and some need the ten days twice. The plan teaches sh, ch and tch, th, wh, ck, ng and nk.

“s, h, i, p.” Each letter said apart.
The pair first: one line, one sound. Then the word.
Your child reads sip. Then an h is added, and your child says s, then h, and the word falls apart. That does not mean your child is not trying. Until now every letter had its own sound. In a digraph two letters team up and make one new sound. So this plan teaches one habit: find the pair first.
See it and hear itThis is the day 2 track your child works with. It waits, then gives the answer. Nothing listens back.
Not every child who is stuck on digraphs is stuck in the same place. Day 1 is a four-minute check that shows you which day to start on.
Says each letter of sh, ch or th apart. Start at day 2.
ship → “s-h-ip”
sh, ch, th are steadyReads ship and chin, but stops at ring and when. Start at day 6.
ring → ?
Go to the story on day 9, then do the final check.
Short words are hardShort words like cat and hop come first. The blending plan is the place to start.

The ten daysIt starts from a word your child can already read, and changes it with a pair: sip, then ship; tin, then thin. One pair a day, the easiest to hear first: sh, then ch, then th. Then wh and ck, then ng and nk. Then all of them mixed, and a story.
Everything in your packIt is more than worksheets. It is the pages, someone showing you each day, and a voice that works with your child while you stay nearby.

Ten days of pages with the hand-drawn Sound It Out friends. One line under a pair that makes one sound, a dot under every other letter. Color and ink-saving black and white, US Letter and A4.

One a day, about a minute. You hear the real sound of the day’s pair, sh, ch or th, and see it on tiles before you sit down. With captions.
Days 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7. The voice asks your child to find the pair, waits, then sounds out ship, chin or ring, so your child can check alone.

Day 1 shows whether sh, ch and th are new, or only wh, ng and nk. Day 10 uses digraph words printed nowhere else in the book.
Each card shows a pair, a word and a picture: sh in ship, ch in chick, th in moth, wh in whip, ck in duck, ng in ring.
Type in the two days’ numbers. The report shows which pairs moved, and whether Cap to Cape comes next.

Three steps to begin, and a code to scan for the welcome video. You are never left wondering what to do first.

One star to color for each day.

With your child’s name, and signed by you.

“With your grown-up, 2 minutes” is printed on every page. Days 1, 5 and 10 are checks, and those need you for the whole page. A young child may need you nearby on other days too. If a day is easy, do the next one. If a day is hard, do it again tomorrow.

It is not a promise: some children find the pair first within days, some need two rounds. It teaches consonant digraphs, sh, ch and tch, th, wh, ck, ng and nk, and not vowel pairs like ee and ai, which are in Cap to Cape and Stars and Clouds. Saying the letters of a pair apart is not a sign of dyslexia by itself; if your child is seven or older, or reading is very hard in other ways, tell the teacher. Nothing to install, and no screen for your child. If cat and hop are not yet steady, the blending plan comes first, and the free check tells you. You need a printer and scissors.
Only the printed pages, a pencil, crayons and scissors for the pair cards. Your child never needs a screen.
Two letters that make one sound together, a sound neither letter makes alone: sh in ship, ch in chin, th in thin. A blend is different: in stop, the s and the t each keep their own sound.
Start with sh. Its sound is easy to hear and to feel, like a finger on the lips. Then ch, then th. After that wh and ck, then ng and nk. That is the order of this plan, one a day.
Because th has two sounds: a quiet one in thin, and a buzzing one in this. Both are right. If one sound does not make a word, your child tries the other.
Most children who need this are five to seven. Your child should already read short words like cat, hop and sit, even slowly. The free check shows you whether that step is steady.
Around five. Two minutes together on job 1, the rest your child does with the track, then three pair words read to you.
Do the day again with the pair cards on the table, and cover all but the pair with a finger. Ask: two letters, one sound, which one? The halfway check on day 5 tells you when to go on.
You can stop there. If you want daily practice to keep going, The One Sheet gives your child one sheet a day, made from what you tell us. It is a separate plan, $9.99 a month, and you can cancel any time.
No. Nothing in this pack watches, listens to or records your child. You are the one who listens.
The “start here” page of the book has a code to scan with your phone, and a short link. They open in your browser. There is nothing to install.
Write to hello@sounditoutreading.com within 30 days of buying and we will refund you. You do not need to give a reason, and you keep the pages.
