What this is not
It is not a promise. Some children are blending by day 6. Some need the ten days twice. A few need something earlier first, and the checks are built to tell you which. It is not an app, and your child does not need a screen. It covers one step, blending short words. It does not teach all of reading. You need a printer.
Questions
Do I need a printer?
Yes. The pages are made to be printed once, on plain paper. The black-and-white copy uses very little ink.
How old should my child be?
Most children who are at this step are four to seven. Age matters less than the check: a child who knows most of the twelve sounds but cannot join them is the child this is for.
My child does not know the letter sounds yet. Is this for us?
Not yet. Do the free check. If it says the sounds are not firm, start with the sounds, then come back.
How much of my time does it take?
About five minutes on a normal day: a one-minute video, about two minutes to start the page together, and a minute or two at the end when your child reads three words to you. Days 1, 5 and 10 are checks, and those need you for the whole page.
What if my child cannot do a day?
Stop, and do the same page again tomorrow. The halfway check on day 5 tells you whether to go on or go back two days.
Does anything record my child?
No. Nothing in this pack watches, listens to or records your child. You are the one who listens.
How do I get the videos and sound tracks?
The “start here” page of the book has a code to scan with your phone, and a short link. They open in your browser. There is nothing to install.
What comes after day 10?
The day 10 check gives you one of three next steps, and the reading report shows your child’s path from there.
What if it is not right for us?
Write to hello@sounditoutreading.com within 30 days of buying and we will refund you. You do not need to give a reason, and you keep the pages.
