Race to the top letter game

Roll, say the sound, trace the letter

Make a race to the top page for six letters. Your child rolls a die, finds that column, says the sound of the letter and traces it in the lowest empty box. The letters race each other to the star at the top.

Your worksheet:

How to make your worksheet

  1. Type the six letters you are working on, or choose “Pick for me”.
  2. Choose small letters or capitals, tracing or writing.
  3. Print the page and find a die.
  4. Roll, say the sound, trace. Play until one letter reaches the star.

The reading skill

Saying the sound while writing the letter ties the shape to the sound, which is what a child needs to sound out words later.

Our own letter shapes

The dotted letters are the same simple print letters as on all our tracing pages, with one clear way to form each.

Two players

Each child prints a page. They take turns to roll, and each one traces on their own page.
