Roll and cover game maker

Roll, read, then cover or color a spot

Make a roll and cover page for six words. The key at the top gives each face of the die a word. Your child rolls, reads the word beside that number, and covers one spot that holds the same word. Use counters to play again and again, or crayons for roll and color.

Your worksheet:

How to make your worksheet

  1. Pick a word set, or choose “Type your own words” and type six words.
  2. Choose counters or crayons, and how many spots.
  3. Print the page and find a die.
  4. Roll, read, cover. Play until every spot is covered.

The reading skill

The child reads the word in the key, then has to find it again among other words. That is two looks at the word for every roll.

Reading, not matching colors

The spots of one word do not share a color, so the only way to find the right spot is to read it.

Use it again

With counters, buttons or dried beans the same page can be played many times. Slip it in a page protector to keep it clean.

Good questions

Can I use my own words?

Yes. Choose “Type your own words” at the top of the word list and type them. What you type stays on your device.

What do I need?

One die and a pencil or crayons. No die at home? Write 1 to 6 on scraps of paper and pull one from a cup.

What is the difference between cover and color?

Only the tool. Cover uses counters so the page can be used again. Color uses crayons and the page is finished when every spot is colored.

Can I print in black and white?

Yes. Choose “Black and white” under “Print in”. Every picture becomes a line drawing your child can color in.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no limit.
