Find the letter or the word and dab it

Make a find and dab page. A big circle, heart, star or diamond is made of small circles, and each one holds a letter or a word. Your child finds the one you chose every time it appears and dabs it with a dot marker, a sticker or a crayon.

How to make your worksheet

  1. Choose letters or words. Type the letters to find, or pick a word list or choose “Type your own words”.
  2. Pick the shape. For letters, the circles can also make the big letter itself.
  3. Keep the counting box and turn on the answer key if you want them.
  4. Print. Each letter or word gets its own page. Press “New version” to mix the circles.

The reading skill

Finding one letter among others trains the eye to know it at once. Ask your child to say its sound at every dab. With words, it is quick practice in knowing a sight word without sounding it out.

No dot markers?

Round stickers, a fingertip on an ink pad, a cotton swab dipped in paint or a crayon all work.

Words on the page

With a ready list, every word in the circles comes from that same list. With words you type, your words are used, and a very short list is filled up from the Dolch pre-primer words.
