Bump game maker

Roll, read, cover, and bump

Make a bump game for two players and six words. Roll the die, read the word beside that number, and put a counter on a spot with that word. If the other player is there, bump them off. Two of your counters on one spot lock it.

Your worksheet:

How to make your worksheet

  1. Pick a word set, or choose “Type your own words” and type six words.
  2. Print the board.
  3. Find a die and ten counters for each player, in two colors.
  4. Play by the rules printed on the board.

The reading skill

Every roll means reading the word in the key and finding it on the board. Because spots change hands, the same six words are read many times in one game.

Only reading

This bump board uses one die, and the die only picks the word. There are no sums to do.

Short and lively

A game takes about ten minutes, which is a good length for a reading warm-up.
