How to make your worksheet

  1. Choose a page to circle the letter, or to write the letter.
  2. Choose short words with every vowel mixed, one vowel, or type your own words.
  3. Choose how many pages.
  4. Print. Say each word together, stretching it out to the last sound.

The reading skill

Hearing the last sound of a word is harder than hearing the first. A child who can hear all three sounds in cat is ready to spell it and to read it.

One clear answer

The words end in one letter that says its usual sound. The two wrong letters are never ones that sound close to the right one, such as m and n, or b and p.

Words from our checked lists

The ready words are three-letter words from our checked lists, with pictures a young child can name.
