How to make your worksheet

  1. Choose which letter is missing, or the alphabet page.
  2. Pick a word set, or type your own short words.
  3. Choose how many pages, and keep the answer key if you want it.
  4. Print. Press “New version” for other words.

The reading skill

To fill the gap a child says the word, pulls one sound out of it and writes its letter. First sounds are easiest, then last sounds, then the middle.

One clear answer

A picture is used only when a child would name it one way. The picture tells which word it is, so c_t can only be cat.

Alphabet gaps

Rows of five letters in ABC order with one or two gaps, in small letters or capitals.
