The reading skill

Opposites grow a child’s stock of words, and knowing what a word means is half of reading it. Short pairs such as up and down, in and out, on and off can be sounded out.

Some words, such as empty and dirty, cannot be sounded out by a beginner yet. Read the words together first. The picture beside each word helps your child remember it.
