How to make your worksheet

  1. Choose the kind of page: match, trace, read and color, or cut and stick.
  2. Choose how many words on a page and how many pages.
  3. Pick color or black and white.
  4. Read the words together first, and talk about each feeling.

The reading skill

Feelings words are in every story. A child who can read sad and happy and knows what they mean follows what happens to the people in a book.

Words a grown-up reads first

Many of these words, such as purple or triangle, cannot be sounded out by a beginner yet. Read the words together first. The picture then helps your child remember each word.

Pictures a child can name

On the matching and cut and stick pages a picture is the question, so only pictures a young child would name with that word are used. The other words are on the trace page and the read and color page, where the word is printed beside the picture.
