How to make your worksheet

  1. Choose a group of pictures, or type your own words.
  2. Choose words to cut out, or pictures to cut out.
  3. Choose six or eight on a page.
  4. Print. Cut on the dashed lines. Glue, or use sticky dots to play again.

The reading skill

To stick a word under its picture a child has to read the word, not guess from the picture. It is word reading with scissors and glue.

For a busy book

Laminate the page and the pieces and add sticky dots. The page can then be matched again and again.

Words a grown-up reads first

The picture groups hold words such as elephant that a beginner cannot sound out yet. Read the words together first, or type short words your child can sound out.

Which groups are there?

Colors, shapes, feelings, weather, people, school, actions, animals, food, things to wear, things that go, things at home, my body and outside.

Can I use my own words?

Yes. Choose “Type your own words” at the top of the word list and type them. What you type stays on your device.

Where do the pictures come from?

Every picture is one of our own hand-drawn crayon pictures. A picture is used as a question only where a young child would name it with that word.

Can I print in black and white?

Yes. Choose “Black and white” under “Print in”. Every picture becomes a line drawing your child can color in.
