How to make your worksheet

  1. Choose word cards or picture cards.
  2. Pick a word set, or choose “Type your own words” and type them.
  3. Choose how many cards, and four, six or eight on a page.
  4. Print the cards and the recording sheet. Cut the cards apart and put them around the room.

Word cards or picture cards

With a word card, the child reads the word and copies it. With a picture card, the child says the word and writes the sounds heard, which is harder.

At home

It works in a living room too. Hide six cards and send your child to find them with a clipboard.

Can I use my own words?

Yes. Choose “Type your own words” at the top of the word list.

Why are some of my words left out of the picture cards?

A picture card needs a picture a child can name with that word. Open “Words that have a picture” to see what we have.

Is there an answer key?

Yes, for picture cards. Turn on “Answer key page”.
