Reading cards that fit a 4 by 6 photo case
Make reading cards for task boxes. Each card is 4 by 6 inches, the size of a photo case, and holds one small job: read a word and clip its picture, build the word for a picture, or clip the first sound. A label card tells the child what to do.
Your worksheet:
Each card asks for one thing: sound out a word, hear the first sound, or spell a short word. A child can work through a box alone and you can see at a glance what was done.
For the clip cards, add clothespins or counters. For build the word, add letter tiles, magnetic letters or a dry-erase pen.
The ready sets are our checked word lists. A picture is used only when a child would name it with that word.
