Crack the code, then read the word
Print crack the code pages. A key at the top gives every letter a plain shape: a circle, a star, a heart. Each word is written in shapes. Your child finds each shape in the key, writes its letter in the box, then sounds out the word that appears.

The word arrives one letter at a time, left to right, so it has to be sounded out. It cannot be guessed from its shape or from a picture.
