The reading skill

This is practice in reading single words out loud. The star is colored only after the word is read, so a grown-up or a partner can listen.

Words a beginner can read

The ready sets are short words checked by hand, grouped by vowel, word family and letter team. Pick the set your child is working on.

Make it harder

Change the recording sheet to “Write the whole word” and the same cards become a write the room set.

Good questions

Can I use my own words?

Yes. Choose “Type your own words” at the top of the word list and type them. What you type stays on your device.

Can the cards show pictures?

Yes. Choose “A picture and the word”. A word with no picture in our library gets a clean card with the word alone.

Can I print sentences on the cards?

Not yet. The cards hold single words.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no limit.
