Print cards that check themselves. The word is on the front. The picture is folded to the back. Your child sounds out the word, says it, then turns the card over: if the picture matches, the word was read right. No grown-up is needed to say yes or no.
Your worksheet:
The picture comes after the reading, not before. A child cannot guess from the picture, so the word has to be sounded out. The picture then tells the child whether it was right.
With a ready set, only words that have one of our pictures are used. A word you type with no picture gets an empty box to draw in.
