Geoboard letter card maker

Stretch bands to make the letter

Make geoboard letter cards. Each capital letter is drawn over a grid of pegs. Your child stretches stretchy bands on a peg board to make the same letter, then traces it with a finger and says its sound.

How to make your worksheet

  1. Type the letters you want, or choose A to Z.
  2. Choose one or two letters on a page.
  3. Choose color or black and white, and a design.
  4. Print. You need a peg board and stretchy bands. Curved letters come out with corners on a peg board, and that is fine.

The reading skill

Knowing each letter by sight, with its sound, is the first step of reading. Making each line of the letter with a band shows where the lines start and stop. Under the letter is its capital and small form, a picture that starts with its sound, and the word to read together.

Hands busy, eyes on the letter

Small hand work keeps a young child with one letter for several minutes. Say the sound of the letter together while the hands are busy, and again at the end.

Made of plain shapes

The letter is drawn with plain squares, circles and our own letter strokes. Nothing on the page needs a special set: use what you have at home.
