Q-tip painting letter page maker

Dab each dot with a cotton swab

Make cotton swab painting pages. Each letter is drawn as a row of small dots along our own letter strokes. Your child dips a cotton swab in paint and dabs each dot, from the top, the way the letter is written, then says its sound and reads the word under it.

How to make your worksheet

  1. Type the letters you want, or choose A to Z.
  2. Keep the small letter beside the capital, or turn it off.
  3. Choose color or black and white, and a design.
  4. Print. You need cotton swabs and a little paint, or a marker.

The reading skill

Knowing each letter by sight, with its sound, is the first step of reading. Dabbing along the strokes in order is early handwriting without a pencil. Under the letter is its capital and small form, a picture that starts with its sound, and the word to read together.

Hands busy, eyes on the letter

Small hand work keeps a young child with one letter for several minutes. Say the sound of the letter together while the hands are busy, and again at the end.

Made of plain shapes

The letter is drawn with plain squares, circles and our own letter strokes. Nothing on the page needs a special set: use what you have at home.
