Daily routine cards maker

Ten pictures of a child’s day, with the words

Make daily routine cards for home or class. Ten of our own crayon pictures show a child’s day, from wake up to bedtime, each with its words underneath. Print the whole day, a morning or an evening, or type your own steps. The same cards also print as a schedule with boxes to check, a page to trace the words, or a First and Then board.

These steps have a picture: wake up, brush teeth, get dressed, eat breakfast, put on shoes, go to school, eat lunch, tidy up, story time, bedtime. Any other step prints as words only, or with the picture of a single word such as bath or book.

How to make your worksheet

  1. Choose the whole day, the morning, the evening, or type your own steps.
  2. Choose cards, a schedule, a tracing page or a First and Then board.
  3. Choose how many cards go on a page.
  4. Print, cut and put the cards in order with your child.

The reading skill

A picture beside its words is how a young child first learns that print carries meaning. Point to the words as you say each job, and your child starts to know them by sight.

Words a grown-up reads first

Words such as breakfast and school cannot be sounded out by a beginner yet. Read them together. The picture then helps your child remember each one.

Your own day

Type your own steps, one on each line. A step we have a picture for gets its picture. Any other step prints as words on a clean card.
