The reading skill

The days are words a child sees every day on a calendar. Reading them in order, tracing them and writing them makes them words your child knows by sight.

Read them together first

Words such as Wednesday cannot be sounded out by a beginner. The page says so: a grown-up reads it with the child. Point to each day as you say it.

Every day ends the same

Show your child that all seven words end with day. That part can be sounded out, and it makes the long words easier to take in.
