How to make your worksheet

  1. Choose six colors, eleven colors, or type your own color words.
  2. Choose cards to cut out, or one poster.
  3. Print in color, or in black and white to color in.
  4. Read each word together and point to things of that color.

The reading skill

Color words come up in early books and in almost every direction on a worksheet. Some, such as red, can be sounded out. Others, such as blue and white, are learned as whole words.

Read, then color

The black and white page turns it into a reading job: the child has to read the word to know which crayon to use.

Plain shapes

Each card has a plain circle. Nothing else on the card gives the word away.
