Alphabet poster maker

A big letter and a picture for its sound

Print alphabet posters for the wall. Each one has a big letter and one of our hand-drawn pictures that starts with its sound. Print one letter on a full page, or smaller wall cards to hang in a line. Type the letters you are working on, or print all 26.

Your worksheet:

How to make your worksheet

  1. Type the letters you want, or choose every letter from a to z.
  2. Choose the size: one poster on a page, or 2, 4 or 6 wall cards.
  3. Choose capital letters, small letters or both, and solid or hollow letters.
  4. Print. Cut the cards on the dashed lines and hang them in ABC order.

The reading skill

A wall card links the shape of a letter to its sound. Point to the letter, say the sound, then name the picture: “s, sun”.

An alphabet line

Choose 4 or 6 cards a page, cut them out and tape them side by side along a wall at your child’s eye level.

Hollow letters to color

Hollow letters are drawn from our own letter strokes. Your child can color them, or fill them with stickers.

Good questions

Which picture goes with each letter?

A picture a young child would name with a word that starts with that sound: a for apple, s for sun. For x the picture ends with the sound, as in box.

Can I show the word too?

Yes. Choose “The word, with the letter underlined” under the picture. Most of these words are for a grown-up to read.

Can I print in black and white?

Yes. Choose “Black and white” under “Print in”. Every picture becomes a line drawing your child can color in.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no limit.
