Write and wipe card maker

Trace it, wipe it, write it again

Print word cards to trace with a dry-erase pen. Each strip or card has a word in dotted letters on writing lines, with a start dot and an arrow, and an empty line to write the word again. Laminate the page or slide it into a page protector, and the same cards can be used all year.

Your worksheet:

How to make your worksheet

  1. Pick a ready word set, or type your own words.
  2. Choose four long strips on a page, or six cards.
  3. Print, laminate and cut on the dashed lines.
  4. Read the word, trace it, wipe it clean and write it on the empty line.

The reading skill

Writing a word letter by letter while saying its sounds fixes the spelling in memory. Reading the word first, and again after writing, ties the two together.

Letters with a start dot

The dotted letters are our own letter shapes, the same as on the tracing pages. The big dot shows where to start and the arrow shows which way to go.

No laminator?

Slide the page into a clear page protector, or cover each card with clear tape.
