An action word tells what someone does
Make a verbs worksheet. A verb is an action word: it tells what someone does, such as run, hop, dig and swim. On the first kind of page twelve words stand with their pictures, and your child circles the action words. On the second, five action words are joined to their pictures with a line.
Your worksheet:
The quickest test for an action word is to do it. Read a word and let your child act it out. If it can be acted out, it is an action word.
The action words were picked by hand, and the naming words mixed in with them are never words that are also everyday actions.
Run, sit, hop, dig, jog, jump, kick, clap, swim, sing, read, write, draw, eat, sleep, climb, throw, push, pull, hide, bake, crawl and yell.
