Label the picture worksheet maker

Six pictures to label, with a word bank

Make label the picture worksheets. Each page has six of our pictures with a writing line under each one and a word bank at the top. Your child reads the words in the bank, finds the one for each picture and writes it. Turn the bank off and the page becomes a spelling page.

How to make your worksheet

  1. Pick a ready word set, or type your own words that have a picture.
  2. Leave the word bank on, or turn it off for spelling by ear.
  3. Print the first letter on each line if your child needs a start.
  4. Print. The answer key is the last page.

The reading skill

With the word bank, labeling is reading: the child reads each word and matches it to a picture. Without it, labeling is spelling: saying the word slowly and writing its sounds.

Words that can be sounded out

The ready sets are our checked word lists. A picture is used only when a young child would name it with that word.

Each picture stands alone

The page labels six separate pictures. It is not one big scene, so nothing depends on small details.
