Foldable word book maker

Fold, cut, read, lift and draw

Make a foldable for any word list. The sheet folds in half the long way and the front is cut into flaps. Each flap shows a word to read. Your child lifts the flap and draws the word on the paper inside. Or put a picture on each flap and write its word inside.

Your worksheet:

How to make your worksheet

  1. Pick a word set, or choose “Type your own words” and type them.
  2. Choose a word or a picture on each flap, and how many flaps.
  3. Print on one side. Fold the sheet in half on the dashed line with the print on the outside.
  4. Cut on the solid lines up to the fold. Lift each flap and draw or write inside.

The reading skill

With a word on the flap, the job is to read the word and show what it means with a drawing. With a picture on the flap, the job is to say the word slowly and write a letter for each sound.

Pictures a child can name

A picture flap has no word on it, so only pictures a young child would name with that word are used. A word you type that has no such picture is left out, and the page says so.

Glue it in a notebook

The back of the foldable can be glued into a notebook or a lapbook. The flaps still lift.

Good questions

Can I use my own words?

Yes. Choose “Type your own words” at the top of the word list and type them. What you type stays on your device.

How many flaps fit?

Three, four, five or six on one sheet. More words make more sheets.

Does it need two-sided printing?

No. The print is on the outside and the inside stays blank for drawing or writing.

Is it free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no limit.
