Nine ways to practice: pick three in a row

Make a spelling choice board for any word list. The words are at the top, and nine ways to practice them fill a three by three grid: rainbow colors, letter tiles, ABC order and more. Your child picks three in a row and colors each box when it is done. You can type your own ways to practice.

How to make your worksheet

  1. Pick a ready word set, or type this week’s words (up to ten).
  2. Press “New version” to mix the nine ways, or type your own.
  3. Print one board for each child.
  4. Your child picks three in a row during the week.

The reading skill

Every job on the board has the child look at, say and write the same words again. Choosing the job keeps a week of practice from feeling the same every day.

A grown-up reads the jobs

The jobs in the boxes are for a grown-up to read aloud. The words at the top are for the child.

Nothing to buy

The jobs need paper, crayons, and letter tiles or bottle caps with letters on them.
