Picture strip puzzle maker

Spell the word and the picture comes back

Make picture strip puzzles. One of our crayon pictures is cut into strips, and each strip has one letter of the word under it. The strips are printed mixed up. Your child cuts them out and puts the letters in order: when the word is right, the picture is whole again.

How to make your worksheet

  1. Pick a word set or type words of three to six letters.
  2. Choose how many pages.
  3. Print and cut the strips apart.
  4. Your child builds the word and checks with the picture.

The reading skill

Putting letters in order to spell a word is the other side of reading it. The picture checks the answer by itself, so a child can work alone.

Say the sounds

Ask your child to say each sound while placing its strip, then read the whole word.

Three puzzles on a page

Keep each puzzle in its own envelope with the word written on the back.
