Alphabet matching worksheet maker

Cut out the small letters, stick them under the capitals

Make a cut and stick alphabet matching page. The capital letters sit in boxes on the page. The small letters are on a strip at the bottom. Your child cuts them out and glues each one under its capital. You can swap them: small letters on the page and capitals to cut out.

How to make your worksheet

  1. Pick a to m, n to z, the whole alphabet, or choose “Type your own letters”.
  2. Choose which letters are on the page and which are cut out.
  3. Mix up the order on the page for a harder match.
  4. Print. You need scissors and a glue stick.

The reading skill

Books are printed mostly in small letters, but many children learn the capitals first. Matching the two forms of each letter closes that gap.

Use it again

Do not glue. Slide the page into a plastic sleeve, keep the letter tiles in a bag, and it becomes a matching board for a busy book.

Letters that look different

Pay attention to the pairs that do not look alike: Aa, Bb, Dd, Ee, Gg, Qq and Rr.
