Zoo words to read, trace, find and write
Make zoo worksheets for a child who is learning to read. Pick picture and word cards, a read, trace and write page, a word search, or a write the room set with a recording sheet. The 11 zoo words each come with one of our own crayon pictures. You can also type your own words.
Your worksheet:
These pages help your child learn new words by sight. Your child sees each zoo word beside its picture, reads it with you, traces it, finds it in a puzzle and writes it.
Lion, elephant, giraffe, monkey, zebra, penguin, kangaroo, snake, owl, alligator, seal. Many of these cannot be sounded out by a beginner yet, so each sheet says that a grown-up reads the words first.
Cards to cut apart for matching and sorting. A page to read, trace and write four words at a time. A word search with words across and down only. A write the room set: hang the numbered cards around the room, and your child finds each one and writes its word. They fit a zoo trip or a week about animals.
Some of them, such as the short ones. Most are words to learn with the picture, so read them together first.
Yes. Choose “Type your own words” at the top of the word list. A word we have a picture for gets its picture.

Yes. Choose “Black and white” under “Print in”. Every picture becomes a line drawing your child can color in.
Yes, with no sign-up and no limit.
No maker matches that yet. Clear the box to see them all.
“Behind in reading” can mean fourteen different things, and each one needs different help. Check off what is true for your child. You will see what to work on first, and what can wait.
