How to make your worksheet

Why make 10 matters

Knowing the partner of every number up to 10 (7 and 3, 6 and 4) is the step before adding in your head. Children who see 10 at a glance add 8 + 5 by thinking 8 + 2 + 3 later on.

Teach it in two minutes

Each first page starts with a short strip for the grown-up: what to say, what to do together, and what your child does alone. Use real things first: 10 buttons in an egg carton cut to 10 cups works well.
