Why fact families help

A child who knows that 3 + 5 = 8 already knows three more facts. Seeing the four together shows that taking away is adding turned around.

Where the big number goes

The biggest number sits at the top of the triangle. It is the answer of both adding sentences and the start of both taking away sentences.

Good questions

How many families are on a page?

Four. The two small numbers are never the same, so each family has four different sentences.

Is there an answer key?

Can I print in black and white?

Is it free?
