Directed drawing worksheet maker

Draw it in six steps, then write the word

Make a directed drawing worksheet. Six small pictures show how to draw a cat, a dog, a pig, a fish, a frog, a bus, a hen or a sun, one step at a time, in plain black lines. Your child draws in the big box, reads the word, traces it and writes it, then writes a sentence about the picture.

The reading skill

Every word here is a short word a beginner can sound out: cat, dog, pig, fish, frog, bus, hen, sun. Your child reads it, traces it with the start dot and arrow, and writes it. The sentence is your child’s own.

Why drawing helps writing

Following steps in order, and making circles, ovals and lines, are the same hand skills that letters need. A child who has drawn a picture also has something to write about.

Plain black lines

The steps print the same in color and in black and white, so the page uses very little ink.
