Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
Make a counting coins page. The first kind of page teaches the four coins: your child traces penny, nickel, dime and quarter and writes how many cents each is worth. On the counting page each row holds a few coins to add up. Start with pennies only, then add nickels, dimes and quarters.
Your worksheet:
The coins are simple drawings, not pictures of real coins. Each one has its value printed on it. Their sizes are true to each other, the penny is copper, and the dime and the quarter have a ridged edge. Put real coins beside the page so your child sees both.
In each row the coins are in order from the one worth most to the one worth least. Start with the biggest value and count on: 10, 15, 16, 17.
It is the same with real coins: the dime is the smallest coin although it is worth ten cents. The page keeps the real sizes so nothing has to be unlearned.
Up to 99 cents.
