How to make your worksheet

  1. Open the number words worksheets maker and choose words from eleven up through twenty.
  2. Pick matching, writing or circling as the activity, depending on what your child needs to practice.
  3. Print both pages, one for now and one to save for a later practice day.
  4. Read each number word aloud with your child before they match or write it.

Starting with numbers your child knows

Begin with numbers your child already counts well, even past ten. This makes the word matching feel familiar, not new. Say a number out loud, then point to its written word, such as fourteen. Working on a few numbers at a time helps the words stay clear. Avoid trying all ten numbers in a single sitting.

Moving from matching to writing

Start with matching if your child is new to number words. It only asks for a line between a number and its word. Once that feels easy, switch to writing, where your child copies the word using a word box. Later, try hiding the word box so your child recalls the spelling alone.

After eleven to twenty

Once your child reads these number words with ease, return to the one to ten page for review. Move past twenty when that feels solid. Counting by tens, such as twenty, thirty and forty, is a natural next step. Keep mixing in numbers your child already knows, so new words do not crowd out older ones.
